Healthy Holiday Gift Ideas

Some people will tell you exactly what they want, while others don’t give you a clue. Whether there’s a health nut in your life, someone new to fitness, a running fanatic, or someone who swears they’re going to stick to their New Year’s Resolution of being healthier this time--there’s something for everyone! Here are some ideas to help keep your loved ones happy and healthy this holiday season and beyond:

  • An Activity Tracker/ Pedometer – Brands such as FitBit, Garmin, and Jawbone, among others, offer a variety of activity trackers to help you monitor things such as steps walked, stairs climbed, and sleep patterns. Many even offer apps so you can sync and view your activity on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
  • Heart Rate Monitor – A step up from a regular activity tracker, a heart rate monitor from brands like Polar, monitor your heart rate and can estimate calories burned when you input on the device factors such as your age, sex, height and weight.
  • GPS Watch – A great gift for the avid runner. It’s important for runners to track their miles and pace so that they can set and meet goals. Garmin is one popular brand among runners according to Wareable.com.
  • Gym Membership – Nowadays, it seems like there is a gym on every corner. Find one that fits the style of the person you’re shopping for to give them no excuses when it comes to being healthy.
  • Fitness Classes – For the non-gym fan in your life. Try getting a package of classes for activities like Yoga, Barre, Zumba, or Kickboxing.
  • Massage – Another part of being healthy is having time to relax and unwind. Try a gift certificate for a massage at a local spa to help someone get in some R&R (rest and recuperation) time.
  • Apparel – Think compression, dry-fit, or moisture-wicking materials from pants, to shirts, hats and hoodies. Many clothing brands carry their own line of fitness wear.
  • Fruit of the Month Club – Memberships can be purchased in packages and are available from a number of online retailers. Your special someone can get a fruit basket every month for as long as you subscribe.
  • Water Bottle – Get a custom water bottle with their name on it. Choose from a variety of brands and styles from an assortment of retailers. You can get one with a filter or fruit infuser.
  • Cook Books – Some guidance for the special chef in your life. Find cook books with healthy recipes for well-balanced diets. Even if your special someone has a sweet tooth, there are plenty of cook books with with healthier baking options.
  • Blender/Juicer – An excellent gift for the smoothie aficionado.  You can choose from your standard style blender or go for one that has a built-in to-go cup, such as the Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender or the Nutribullet.
