iStock 000017932818 Small PUMPKINFrom canned pumpkins to pumpkin seeds – and even pumpkin pie – the health benefits of these bright orange, smiling Jack-o-Lanterns extend far beyond the Fall and Halloween season. In fact, pumpkins are perfect for a year-round, healthy treat! Outlined below are a just few of the many health benefits:

Vitamins. Pumpkins are rich in Vitamins A and C, two important nutrients for promoting vision and immune system health.

Omega 3. Pumpkin seeds are not only tasty, they also contain omega 3, which supports healthy hearts, joints and memory function.

Fiber. In addition to being very low in calories, pumpkins boast three grams of fiber per one-cup serving.

Beta-carotene. Pumpkins are an excellent source of the antioxidant beta-carotene, which helps protect the body against developing certain cancers, according to the National Cancer Institute.
