CaramelapplecrispLooking for a fun and easy dessert recipe for your Fourth of July weekend party? Try this tart and tasty Caramel Apple Crisp recipe and celebrate the 4th of July with an all-American apple dessert.   



5 large Granny Smith apples – peeled, cored and sliced thin

½ cup white sugar

1 tablespoon all –purpose flour

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon lemon juice

¼ cup water

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup quick cooking oats

½ cup diced walnuts

1 cup butter, softened



Caramel sauce recipe

1 cup packed brown sugar

½ cup butter

¼ cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Bring brown sugar, butter, and milk to a boil and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract. 



Preheat oven to 350 F.  In a bowl combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, lemon juice, and water and toss until apples are well coated. Spread apples evenly into an 8x8 inch pan. In another bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, oats, walnuts and butter until it forms into rounded crumbled chunks. Evenly spread mixture over apples then drizzle caramel sauce over apples.

Bake in the oven for 45 minutes. When topping is golden brown in color your crisp is ready to serve!
