What is the Whitsons Family Foundation?

Prompted by a heartwarming story a few years ago about a team member’s struggle at Christmas, the Whitcomb Family and Whitsons team set out to establish a means of helping team members in need. In this spirit, Whitsons Culinary Group™ has created the Whitsons Family Foundation; a registered 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization designed to support Whitsons team members with temporary emergency financial assistance and/or grants for college education. The intent of the Foundation is to help team members and their immediate families get the financial support they need during trying times. 100% of all donations collected go directly to team members in need, as all overhead costs are absorbed by Whitsons Culinary Group.

How Does the Foundation Work?

It’s funded through a combination of company contributions, team member donations and any third parties who wish to contribute to the fund. Whitsons started the Foundation by donating $50,000. The first $25,000 was to start the Foundation, and the next $25,000 will be to match team member contributions. Imagine this: If every team member only donated $1 a day ($5 per week), the Foundation would have $600,000 to help team members in need this year! Our goal is to help as many team members as possible through the Foundation. This program is completely voluntary. Team members do not have to donate to receive; however, if they do donate, they do so knowing that the recipients of this money are their peers, and perhaps someone they work with. All donations are also tax deductible.

Who is Helped by the Foundation, and How?

Only Whitsons team members* and their immediate families are eligible to apply for hardship or scholarship grants. All applications are anonymously reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of eight peers throughout the organization. The identity of our team members and their loved ones are protected throughout the entire process, and assistance is awarded based on official hardship criteria set forth in the organization’s bylaws.

*Team members must be employed with Whitsons for at least 6 months and be in good standing to be eligible to apply for assistance. Additional requirements are set forth in the Selection Rules and Procedures established by the Board of Trustees.

Lending Each Other a Helping Hand

The Foundation is here to assist team members who struggle from unexpected life circumstances. Help us make a difference in the lives of those we work with; or maybe even your own.

It’s about team members helping each other. It’s about family…our family and yours. We are privileged to be able to help team members during their times of need. Please contribute to this worthy cause today. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our fellow team members.
