Sustainability

Whitsons is committed to taking leadership role in environmental conservation by being sustainable and supporting local communities. As a food service management company, we strive to conserve and preserve the earth’s resources by recycling, reusing and reducing our global footprint.

Sustainability

Rooted in Wholesome Ingredients

Whitsons was one of the first food service companies to require our manufacturers to remove ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup and artificial colors and flavors from their products to allow us to provide the most wholesome meals to our customers. Today, we continue to take our commitment to the next level by returning to a simpler time where food was fresh and natural.

2030 Food Loss & Waste Champion

The staggering amount of wasted food in the United States has far-reaching impacts on food security, resource conservation, and climate change. As one of 23 original organizations that have joined the U.S. Food Loss and Waste 2030 Champions, we have stepped up to do our part to help the nation reach its food loss and reduction goal by pledging concrete steps to reduce waste in our operations by 50 percent by the year 2030. Some of the efforts include a move toward the elimination of Styrofoam, plastic straws and the plastic salad containers; implementing share table programs at schools; and donating leftover food to local shelters, food pantries and meal programs, among other initiatives.
