Whitsons’ Islandia Culinary Team Scores Big on Surprise SQF Audit

At Whitsons, food safety and quality are at the heart of everything we do. We understand that the trust of our clients and the satisfaction of their customers, students, and residents depend on the consistent delivery of safe, quality meals. To ensure that we meet the highest standards, we are proud to be certified under the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, a globally recognized benchmark for food safety management.

This summer, our Islandia Culinary Center received an impressive score of 99 on a surprise SQF audit. These scores are determined by auditors who review documentation, interview staff, and observe operations to assess compliance. Paul Burnup, Chief Operating Officer states “Achieving a 99 SQF score certification is not only a testament to our commitment to quality and safety but also a reflection of our unwavering dedication to meeting and exceeding industry regulations. Our team is the backbone of this success, undergoing comprehensive training in food safety and quality management, and they are regularly updated on the latest SQF standards.” Whitsons team members are trained to comply with regulations and to be vigilant and proactive in ensuring the highest levels of food safety.

Being SQF certified means we have a structured approach to food safety and quality management recognized worldwide. It assures our clients that we are committed to delivering products that are safe, high-quality, and compliant with all relevant food safety regulations.
