Whitsons Culinary Challenge in Everett Public Schools, MA Featured on “Wicked Bites” on NESN

The Whitsons Culinary Challenge in Everett Public Schools, MA was recently featured on a popular culinary television show seen throughout New England.  “Wicked Bites”, a weekly show airing on NESN featuring culinary excellence throughout New England, highlighted the annual challenge for students in the Everett High School Culinary Arts Program to develop and execute recipes following National School Lunch Program (NSLP) guidelines.

Whitsons and EPS collaborate in partnership yearly to provide the culinary students with this engaging educational opportunity that helps develop and showcase their culinary talents. A group of Whitsons team members served as the judges, including Joe Armenti (District Manager), Mike DiMascio (General Manager), and Charlie Giovinco (Chef Manager). They were joined by “Wicked Bites” hosts Scott Whitley and Leigh Jeanine, who were served dishes developed by the five student teams that competed in the Whitsons Culinary Challenge under the supervision of their Culinary Arts teacher.

Congratulations to the winning team of Sarah Jasmin and Marco Pleitez, who developed the wining dish – Chicken Teriyaki over Whole Grain Rice and Broccoli, with a Strawberry Smoothie. On Monday, May 4, the winning team joined the Whitsons team led by Chef Giovinco to serve the winning dish on the menu to their fellow students and EHS school lunch.

Whitsons is proud to serve Everett Public Schools every day, as well as partner with the EHS Culinary Arts Program to provide hands-on, real-world learning experiences for students pursuing a career in Culinary Arts. This partnership truly exemplifies our mission of Enhancing Lie One Meal at a Time™ and our Whitsons Way.
