Amazing Apples

Whitsons’ Chef Sandmann is back with our October Harvest: Apples! Start your day off delicious with a Baked Apple French Toast!

It’s National Apple Month, and those juicy apples are now in season! Fall is a great time to start cooking with apples and incorporating this delicious fruit into your diet. Apples have many nutritional benefits, containing many essential vitamins and minerals, fiber and antioxidants. Looking to change up the same old lunch? Why not try our salad recipe below?
 

RECIPE: Apple Waldorf Salad

INGREDIENTS:
4 cups iceberg or romaine lettuce
2 red apples, diced
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
¼ cups grapes, halved
½ cup walnuts, chopped
2 stalks celery, sliced
½ cup plain yogurt

DIRECTIONS:
Dice the apples and pour the lemon juice over apples to keep them from turning brown. Add grapes, walnuts and celery to the apples and stir. Stir the yogurt over top and mix and enjoy on top of the lettuce.
