Everett High School Senior Exemplifies Whitsons Way through Internship Showcasing Culinary Passion
Trévon Carrington is a senior at Everett High School with a passion for culinary arts and sharing his talents in the kitchen with his fellow students as a proud member of the Whitsons team. As the student president of the EHS Culinary Program, he joined the Whitsons team as an intern to gain valuable professional experience in his pursuit of a career in Culinary Arts.
“Whitsons Culinary Group has provided me great access for me to experiment with my culinary growth and culinary understanding, says Trévon. “To work with a lot of individuals with different cultural backgrounds and to understand the concept of food – how food is comforting, how food makes us happy, and how food allows us to grow within ourselves and showcase our talents – Whitsons has provided me with access to reach out to different students from different nationalities within the district and within our schools, to make sure they know what they’re eating and how its prepared.”
Working in the kitchen to help prepare lunch for the day, Trévon then greets his fellow students in the lunch line with a smile, a warm greeting, and information about the different special menu items and their ingredients offered through the lunch program. In doing so, he has exemplified the Whitsons Way in always being the best part of someone’s day.
Outside of the kitchen, Trévon is also active in helping promote the special menu offerings throughout the school. He helps make sure promotional graphics produced by the Whitsons Marketing team are posted in the cafeteria, throughout the school, and on EPS and his own personal social media. He has taken great pride in being a member of the Whitsons team and helping promote the Whitsons Way through his talents, passion, and natural engaging personality to connect with people through food.
“Trévon has been a great asset to the Everett High School kitchen team,” says Hannah Yoo, General Manager. “He worked with such passion and diligence that it was easy to forget that he is a student instead of a colleague. His bright attitude was infectious and was always a morale booster to the rest of the team. Everyone enjoys working with him and it was truly a bittersweet moment on his last day with us. We are so incredibly proud of all the hard work he has done and cannot wait to see how far he will go.”
