Whitsons Partners with Giuliano’s Deli to Bring “Taste of the Town” to Cheltenham School District, PA
The Whitsons team in Cheltenham School District, PA introduced a “Taste of the Town” to students at school lunch through a collaboration with Giuliano’s, a local popular deli in the community.
Cory Goldfarb, District Manager, worked with Giuliano’s owners Matt and Marcela McManus to create special K-12 menu items that resonate with students and exemplify a quintessential favorite from the community, while also meeting National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements.
The first promotion at Glenside Elementary School featured Giuliano’s Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with Pickles and Ranch Dressing, with an additional 52 meals served over the school’s typical average daily totals. Matt and Marcela represented Giuliano’s in the cafeteria as guest servers at the school where their daughter also attends.
The next day, Giuliano’s Hot Roast Beef Sandwich was featured at Cedarbrook Middle School, with just about a 50% increase in meal service. The three-day promotion culminated once again with Giuliano’s Hot Roast Beef Sandwich served at Cheltenham High School, which also saw an increase of just over 50% more participation.
In collaboration with Giuliano’s Deli, our “Taste of the Town” event participation rate spikes speak for themselves, proving that this program was a great success in generating excitement amongst students in the cafeteria while helping support a local community business.
